Angolan Pythons
I purchased my first trio of Angolan pythons in 2003.

Angolan Pythons are cool creatures. They have beaded scales that feel almost like a Beaded Lizard's skin. Their heads bear a resemblance to Ball Pythons. Angolan pythons get significantly larger than ball pythons.
Their patterns and color schemes vary by individual. My own animals range from Gold to Chocolate Brown background and Black and Yellow patterns.
They are found in Angola and Namibia and are one of the rarest pythons in nature. I keep mine in very simple cages. One side of the cage is heated from below, the other side is not. This gives them a temperature range of approximately 100 degrees in the hot spot to 85 on the cool side. I have offered hide areas but they seem to ignore them as often as not.

Angolan pythons are typically ravenous eaters. They take appropriately sized, pre-killed mice and rats. They tend to have a decreased appetite in winter. I wouldn't be surprised if they ate small rabbits as adults.

Because they are quite easy to keep, and reportedly easy to breed, I believe that someday Angolan Pythons will be a snake for the masses. These days they are still quite expensive and are limited to folks willing to hand over a big wad of change in exchange for them. I think they are worth it.
